  1. I agree with Mariecris that the Membership Categories are slightly difficult to understand (See: (See: https://awbuschapter.wordpress.com/goals/#comment-43). I wrote up suggested edits and pasted them below, trying to clarify and simplify the language.

    A few questions:
    – Can Associate Members vote?
    – Can Associate Members be under the age of majority?
    – Where will Membership Dues go / What will they be used for?

    Keep up the good work.

    Full Member:
Full Membership is open to individuals who are actively engaged in professional archival work; to individuals who are engaged in professions that are closely associated with archival work; and to students currently enrolled in graduate programs affiliated with archival work, including Library and Information Science and Museum Studies. Full Members can participate in any projects, national or international, in which AwB-US engages. Full Members have voting rights within the organization; are eligible to hold elected offices; will receive all publications created by AwB-US; and will have access to the AwB-US listserv. Only individuals above the age of majority can become full members of AwB-US.

    Associate Member:
Associate Membership is open to individuals who hold an interest in documentary heritage and archives, and who seek to support the work of AwB-US but who are not studying in, or engaged professionally with, archival or related careers. Associate Members maintain all of the rights and responsibilities of Full Member, but are not eligible to [vote or] hold elected positions.

  2. I would concur with TC’s comments and the re-draft of the description of the membership categories. It would be good for the categories to be explicit regarding voting and elections to prevent any difficulties later on. A brief statement of how membership monies would be used is required, at least in the beginnings of a new group. once established their would hopefully be more visible (a website, mailings, campaigns to rescue collections, etc.) means present to potential members.

  3. I am glad that voting rights have been mentioned. I also feel that a description of how the money will be used is important.

  4. Stephanie Bennett

Agreed with the above remarks about more clarity regarding member responsibilities and rights, as detailed by TC.

  5. This doesn’t apply specifically to any one section, but I am noticing inconsistency in the name. In the text we’re drafting now it is sometimes Archivists without Borders and sometimes Archives without Borders; it needs to be one or the other.
