As you have by now noticed, we have released the first half of the proposal to form a U.S. Chapter of Archivists without Borders. This portion of the proposal, which includes Background and Mission Statement, will be open for comment until May 31, 2012. We are currently working with Archives without Borders International to draft the remainder of the proposal. Please be patient as we work diligently to push these additional sections out for your input.
We have been live for barely 24 hours and the response already has been greater than we expected. There have been over 700 visits to the website from visitors in Spain, Norway, Lebanon, Australia, and Namibia. Let’s channel your energy into building on this momentum!
The comments you make will shape the direction of this organization. Your ideas for the organization’s potential, criticisms of the wording, alerts to unanticipated implications, and questions about how we currently envision this chapter functioning are going to keep this process moving forward. The webpages containing each section currently function as a place to have a dialogue about their content as well as your ideas for the organization. Please join the conversation with your constructive and creative comments!
Please follow us on Facebook, Twitter, or this blog. We will be posting in all these locations as new sections become available for comment.
